Plug-in Hybrid Mercedes-Benz C 300 e
Mercedes-Benz has conducted a comprehensive lifecycle assessment of its latest innovation, the C-Class C 300 e plug-in hybrid sedan. This evaluation considers both production and charging processes to provide a holistic view of the vehicle's environmental impact.

During production, the inclusion of additional drivetrain components for the C 300 e necessitates a higher utilization of material and energy resources. However, the operational phase presents a contrasting narrative, with the vehicle benefiting from the exceptional efficiency of its electrified powertrain.
With an impressive usable energy capacity of approximately 25 kWh and an electric output of 95 kW, the C 300 e can achieve remarkable distances of up to 116 km solely in electric mode, without engaging the combustion engine.
Mercedes-Benz's analysis extends to the charging of the high-voltage battery, considering two distinct energy sources: renewable sources, such as electricity from hydropower, and the European power mix. Remarkably, the utilization of renewable power leads to a significant reduction in lifecycle CO2 emissions, nearly halving the vehicle's environmental footprint.
In alignment with its commitment to sustainability, Mercedes-Benz is establishing a cutting-edge battery recycling plant in Kuppenheim, Germany. This facility aims to achieve an impressive recovery rate of over 96%, further enhancing the eco-friendliness of its products.

Moreover, Mercedes-Benz has taken proactive steps to minimize its carbon footprint across its global operations. Since 2022, all company-owned Mercedes-Benz car and van plants worldwide have operated on a net carbon-neutral basis, reflecting the brand's dedication to environmental responsibility.
Furthermore, since 2021, Mercedes-Benz has implemented measures to offset carbon emissions generated during the charging process at its Mercedes me Charge public charging stations. Certificates of origin ensure that corresponding amounts of green electricity are fed into the grid for charged energy quantities after the charging process.
